What Is Wheatgrass?

Wheatgrass is the young grass that appears around the wheat plant. It can be grown indoors and outdoors and has a wide area of growth.

Like most plants, it contains chlorophyll, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. But, precisely due to the high chlorophyll content, wheatgrass has a beneficial effect on enriching our blood with oxygen.

It is a natural source of vitamins A, K, B6, and E, calcium, selenium, magnesium, iron, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and it also contains a small amount of protein. Contrary to popular belief, vitamin B12 is not found in wheatgrass. Instead, it is just a byproduct of the microorganisms that live on it.

Medicinal Properties of Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass is often consumed in juice or tea to encourage cleansing of the digestive system and the whole organism. People drink it in the fight against many diseases – they can be very mild and very severe.

Wheatgrass is believed to increase the number of red blood cells, cleanse the blood and organs and the digestive tract, and stimulate metabolism. It reduces the amount of acid in the blood. It has a positive effect on stomach ulcers, ulcerative colitis, diarrhea, and constipation. It detoxifies the liver and blood and chemically neutralizes the harmful effects of the environment on the body.

The high content of chlorophyll helps to carry oxygen in the blood. Wheatgrass is believed to behave like hemoglobin in the body – hemoglobin is a protein that carries oxygen to red blood cells, and it is vital for us. In addition, scientists have confirmed that it helps alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy and that it does not impair its effects.

It reduces the impact of radiation thanks to the anti-inflammatory enzyme SOD (super-oxide-dismutase). It strengthens our immunity and raises our energy levels. Wheatgrass is also a great help in the process of healthy weight loss. In addition, it promotes fertility and has anti-inflammatory properties. Also, it is advisable to have a jar of wheatgrass next to your bed for a more comfortable sleep.

Wheatgrass is considered healthy and safe, but there are still specific side effects of excessive consumption. These may include headache, nausea, sore throat, or fever. Apart from the fact that you can grow wheatgrass yourself and use it raw, there are alternatives, so you can find it in juices, teas, and various forms of dietary supplements such as wheatgrass powder that you can mix in juice, soup, fruit or salad.

How To Grow Your Wheatgrass?

To ensure your wheatgrass supplies – we bring you some valuable instructions for planting them. In addition to this being the cheapest option, it is also a way to feel satisfied because you are planting your own medicine.

Wheat usually grows very fast. For cultivation, you will need organic wheat seeds, peat, and soil.

Here is the procedure for planting and maintaining wheat:

  1. Soak the wheat seeds. Wheat seeds should be soaked in a glass jar for 24 hours and washed at least three times during that period.
  2. When you notice that the wheat has started to change, plant the seeds on top of the soil. The ratio should be one part of peat coal to three parts of soil.
  3. For the first three days, keep the jar of wheat covered to keep it from drying out. Ensure to water the planted wheat well in the morning and spray it with water in the evening.
  4. On the fourth day, open the jar and keep the seeds in indirect light. The temperature at which your roots will grow nicely is 21 C to a maximum of 26 C.
  5. If mold appears on the wheat, throw the batch away.
  6. Wheatgrass needs to be cut when it grows to a height of about seven or eight inches.
  7. Two days before cutting, take the wheat out into the sun (if any) to make chlorophyll synthesis easier.

You can squeeze wheatgrass juice with a blender or a juicer with a small amount of water. When re-planting, use new seeds.

Jack Cholach
My name is Jack, and I love Juicing. Juice cleansing has been a part of my life since I was 14 years old. When I started, it helped me with everything from detoxing to gaining weight in the right places, but now that it's an everyday routine for me, juice cleanse have become more about how they make me feel while doing them than any other benefit or result. The most remarkable thing about juicing? You can get so many different flavors! My favorite ones are carrot-apple-ginger and apple-spinach because they taste delicious too! If you're interested in trying your first juice cleanse, then click here for some tips on what to do before starting one if you've never done anything like this before.
