In the market, there are many juicers with single/one gear – Omega 8006, Omega 8004, Omega VSJ843QS, SoloStar 4, Wildcat JX100 (LexSun Deluxe), Samson GB-9001, Lequip Omni, Health On, Compact Juicer, or Live Enzyme Juicer.
We were allowed to test and compare all these juicers. All of these single gear juicers can be classified into two categories based on the squeezing system used:
- 1-Step Juice Filter (Compact Juicer, Wildcat JX100, Lequip Omni, Matstone 6-in-1, Samson GB9001, Health On)
- 2-Step Juice Filter (Omega 8004/8006, SoloStar II)
Juice filters are very different from these models. One of the reasons for the difference is that Omega has patented its filter system. As a result, the best results were obtained with a two-step juice filter. Juice filters used for Wildcat JX100, Matstone 6-in-1, or Lequip Omni leave a small hole inside the mesh filter drum and can provide you with more pulpy juice.
Based on our experience, one-step filters usually offer lower utilization of fruits and vegetables. The main difference between a one-step and two-step filter for juice is that you get more juice and juice that is not so mushy with a two-step filter system. With some types of fruit, the difference can be as significant as 20% in volume!In two-step filters, the first drops of juice come out immediately after putting fruit and vegetables into the insertion hole. The rest of the fruit and vegetable pass through the second stage of the filtering process. The second stage will squeeze the remaining juice from the fruit and vegetables.
Conclusion – Single Gear vs. Twin Gear
When you squeeze soft fruits or apples that are not fresh and no longer crisp, you may notice problems during pressing. In this case, you need to buy fresh apples or add some hard fruits like carrots to solve the problem of clogging. In addition, apples that are not crunchy can cause thick juice.
If red/black currents cause clogging, it is recommended that you also juice the stems. Twin step squeezing systems have better performance and cannot be clogged as easily because juices always find a way out. Currently, there are two two-step juicers with a single gear: Solo Star 4 and Omega 8004/8006.
Both models are based on older models of the same appliance. With Omega 8004/8006, we have noticed a better performance when picking small fruits such as berries, currants, grapes, etc. However, the amount of juice is almost the same, with really minimal differences.

A classic (horizontal) juicer with a single gear has a slower work rate and a smaller insertion hole. However, sometimes it is necessary to press and push, for example, carrots for maximum quality. So, the main differences between the classic (horizontal) and vertical juicer with a single gear are the following: speed, the large aperture for insertion, and the ease with which fruit and vegetables are placed in a juicer.
The quality of the juice is the same, but you prepared it faster and with fewer effort thanks to the more massive insertion hole.
All fruits and vegetables are quickly sucked into the juicer piece per piece. As a result, the amount of juice obtained is almost the same or slightly different compared to the Omega 8004/8006 or SoloStar II.
